Day 1: Fes - Chefchaouen
Our 6-day tour from Fes to the Sahara Desert & Chefchaouen starts after breakfast. We will depart for Chefchaouen, traveling through farmlands and small villages before reaching the impressive Rif Mountains. On the way, you will visit the blue city of Chefchaouen, which lies between the two Rif Mountains from which it takes its name. The city is renowned for its strong presence of the color blue, represented in various shades.
The narrow streets, small squares, ornate fountains, and houses with decorated doors invite you to get lost in its streets. Whether you are a lover of photography or not, you will want to capture memories of all the corners dyed blue that Chefchaouen offers.
Day 2: Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes
Following breakfast, we drive through the Rif Mountains into the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping at the Roman ruins of Volubilis. This ancient Roman city extends over a vast area, offering beautiful views over valleys, hills, and green fields. It is advisable to hire a local guide who can provide detailed information on the main buildings, mosaics, dwellings, and the history of the site.
From here, you can visit the holy city of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, perched on the hillside overlooking the ruins. Although non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the mausoleum, the main square is filled with pretty little stores and offers great views.
We then continue to Meknes, an imperial city and former capital under Moulay Ismail. The city was founded as a military camp in the 11th century but is now known as "the Versailles of Morocco" due to its lavish design, created to mimic the royal palaces of Paris and Arabia during the 17th century by Sultan Moulay Ismail, who made it his capital.
Accommodation at a riad in the medina of Meknes with breakfast.
Day 3: Meknes - Cedar Forest - Ziz Valley - Erfoud - Night at the Camp in the Sahara Desert
Departing from Meknes, we drive southeast through the Middle Atlas Mountains and cedar forests, passing through Azrou, known for its cedar wood craftsmanship. After crossing the Zad Pass, we arrive in Midelt for lunch. We will pass through the Ziz Valley and Gorges, and in the afternoon, we will reach the spectacular dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here, we will ride camels for a pleasant one-hour ride through the golden dunes of the desert, watching the spectacular sunset, to the Berber camp located in the middle of the desert. We will spend an unforgettable evening with dinner under the stars and a live Berber drum music show. We will sleep in a Berber tent until sunrise the next day.
Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 4: Merzouga - Ouzina Desert
After an unforgettable night in our Berber camp, if you wake up early enough, you will be able to admire the impressive image of the sunrise in the Sahara between the dunes.
After experiencing this magical moment, we will return to the lodge on the backs of our camels.
We will continue our route around 10 am, making a panoramic tour of the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will then continue to the village of Mifis, where we will visit the mines of lime and barytes, until we reach the village of Khamlia, known as "the village of the blacks."
In Khamlia, the inhabitants, called Gnawas, are musicians of sub-Saharan origin. They will delight us with music and dances while we savor mint tea. We will also have the opportunity to taste the famous Berber pizza.
For lunch, we will head to the village of Khamlia. Then, we will continue to Taouz and begin our journey through the famous track of the old Dakar Rally, enjoying breathtaking views and wonderful rock engravings. We will proceed to the village of Jdaid, arriving at the Ouzina desert in the afternoon.

Day 5: Ouzina - Rissani - Errachidia - Midelt
Today, we have time to relax in the desert. After breakfast, we will drive to Rissani, one of the oldest cities in Morocco, known for being the capital of the ancient Alaouite sultans. Centuries ago, this spot was a busy commercial trade center from Sub-Saharan Africa to the north. We will stop to visit its market, considered the largest in the whole south of Morocco. Then, we will go to Erfoud and continue our journey to Midelt, where we will spend the night in a hotel.
