Itinerary : 6 days from Tangier to Marrakech via Sahara Desert

Day 1 : Tangier - Tetouan - Chefchaouen

The first day of our 6 days adventure tour will start by pick uping you from your hotel/airport/ port and drive to Chefchaouen. First, we will go to Tetouan, popularly known as "The White Dove" due to the pigmentation of most of its buildings.
Once there, we will visit its main places of interest, such as the Moullay El Mehdi Square, the Spanish Ensanche, the Jewish Quarter or Hassan II Square, where the majestic Royal Palace is located...
Next, we will drive to the unmistakable and famous city of Chefchaouen. Once we arrive, we will be immersed in the intense blue of the houses and streets of its Medina, which you can walk around during your free time. Later, we will walk together from the main square of Chaouen to the Hammam where our accommodation is located.

Day 2: Chefchaouen - Guided tour of Fez

Departure in the morning crossing the mountainous villages of Jbala to reach Fes, one of the four imperial cities along with Marrakech, Meknes and Rabat. Fez, one of the largest walled cities in the world, is located in the interior, is the second most touristic city in Morocco, only below Marrakech. It is also the oldest of the imperial cities and the current religious capital of the country.

After lunch, we will begin our half-day guided tour of the medina of Fez, the oldest medina, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Once you enter and walk through its labyrinthine streets, while we cross, or rather try to avoid, the transport of goods (mainly donkeys and motorcycles), it will be impossible not to feel that we have moved to another era.

Divided basically into three zones, we can differentiate the one within the walls (located both the first medina, also called Fez el-Bali, and the second or Fez el-Jdid) and the French area or Ville Nouvelle.

Walking through the medina we can see parading stores and trades that, in the vast majority of the rest of the world, have disappeared: potters, goldsmiths, weavers .... We explore the narrow streets full of stores, fresh fruit, lots of spices, Berber carpets, leather, and many other objects of Moroccan craftsmanship. A visit to the King's Palace, tanneries and potters are just some of the places you will experience.

Day 3: Fez - Ifrane - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Erfoud - Camel trek and night in camp

At around 8am we will pick you up from your accommodation in Fez and start our third day of the trip by heading to Ifrane, a town known as the Switzerland of Morocco because of its typically Swiss buildings. Then we will head to the thousand-year-old cedar forest of Azrou, where we will stop to enjoy the landscape and have the opportunity to see the monkeys that live in freedom in this area.
A visit to this area is very pleasant. Then we will continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reach the city of Midelt, where we will have a break for lunch. We will continue through the Ziz valley and its gorges to Errachi-day, passing the town of Erfoud, famous for its fossil production. In the afternoon we will reach the desert of Merzouga, where we will mount our camels to sleep in the Berber camp in the middle of the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Dinner under the stars, Berber music show with drums and overnight stay in the camp.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert - Khamlia - Dakar Rally Track - Ouzina Desert - Lunch with a Berber family and sunset in the dunes.

We will get up at dawn to have breakfast and watch the sunrise over the dunes, return by camel to the hotel. We will continue to the village of Khamlia, where live the Gnawa, musicians of sub-Saharan origin, who will delight us with music and dances, while we enjoy a mint tea. Then we will continue to Taouz, from where we will take the track of the Dakar Rally to see some wonderful rock engravings, and the village of Jdaid. We will have lunch with a Berber family in the desert of Ouzina, where we can also get tattooed with Henna, by a person specialized in this art. We will visit the village of Ouzina and its oasis. In the afternoon we will go to the dunes of Ouzina to see the sunset in the desert of Ouzina where we will have dinner and spend the night in a Kasbah.

Day 5. Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley - Valley of the Roses - Ouarzazate.

After breakfast departure through the town of Rissani, ancient Sijilmassa, supply center of the ancient caravans from the Sahara. Continuing the journey through a semi-desert landscape, we reach the oasis of Tinghir, possibly one of the most beautiful places in Morocco. Going up the river Todra, we will arrive at its impressive Gorges of more than 300m high, after a brief visit to the village, we will take the route of the Thousand Kasbahs, to reach the Dades Valley, where over time, the river has eroded the rocks, to form a peculiar landscape. We arrive in Ouarzazate in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the riad.

DAY 6: OUARZAZATE – THE HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS - MARRAKECH

After breakfast in the hotel, we can visit Taourirt Kasbah. This former Glaoui residence, situated on the edge of the town, is considered to be one of the most beautiful kasbahs of Morocco. After that, we will drive outside the town to enjoy a private visit of the Atlas Corporation Studio, a well –known cinematographic center renowned for blockbuster productions including Asterix and Cleopatra directed by Alain Chabat; and the Oscar-winning Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott. Thanks to its amazing landscapes, good infrastructures, friendly people and cheap authorizations.

Then we start our way back to Marrakech across the Atlas Mountains. The winding roads, changing scenery, colorful valleys, shepherds with their flocks, Berber villages high up on the hillsides, make this a picturesque drive. And when we get to Tizi’n Tichka Pass, we’ll be at the highest point in the Atlas Mountains. We can stop for photos and to breathe in some fresh mountain air. Arriving at Marrakech where we will drop you off at your hotel where your 6 days Desert Trip from Tangier to Marrakech tour ends.
We hope you enjoyed the tour with our team!.
