The Koutoubia of Marrakech

We start our visit near the Koutoubia Mosque, a marvel of Almohad art.

A walk through the Medina. Walk through the souks...

Then we will enter into the Medina, we will cross the neighborhood of the 7 curves, one of the most authentic built in the eleventh century. On this tour we will be able to see the exterior of one of the sacred patrons of Marrakech, the Holy Moulay Laksour. The visit will continue through the Mouassine Quarter, with its famous fountain of the sixteenth century. This neighborhood is one of the liveliest and gives access to traditional markets, called the Great Souk of Marrakech, where you can smell and feel the city, certainly one of the best memories you will take of the city, (we will pass by the dyers, the artisans of copper and bronze, the area of the blacksmiths, and the auctions of skins, etc).

As we stroll through the urban life, we will make a socio-cultural review of the lifestyle of the local people and the most interesting curiosities about the city in a walking tour with lots of charm.

On our way, we will see the exterior of one of the religious centers of the city, the Madrasa of Ben Youssef, and its surroundings such as the mosque, the library, the dome of the Almoravids and the museum of Marrakech.

We will stroll through Marrakech dodging the many motorcycles, donkeys and thousands of tourists, on our way we will find the Dar Si Said Palace, and the Bahia Palace, built in the nineteenth century as residences of great leaders of the time, in this tour we will cross the souk Rahba Laqdima, the Andalusi Quarter, Riad Zitoune Jdid.

Shall we go shopping?

Our next destination will be the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), the Spice Souk and Badia Square. And we will arrive at the Kasbah, where the Saadian Tombs dating from the sixteenth century, you will love the mausoleums of great beauty and decorated with mosaics in which are buried numerous sultans, warriors and servants of the Saadian Dynasty.

We will stop at Bab Agnaou, to take a picture of one of the 19 gates of Marrakech, built in the twelfth century in the Almohad empire, is one of the most beautiful and well preserved of the wall of Marrakech. We will pass outside the Royal Palace and in front of the tomb of the founder of Marrakech, Youssef Ibn Tachafine.

Our intense Marrakech Must See Tour ends in the most important square of Marrakech, Jemaa el Fna, the most central place of the Medina, where you can drink the famous orange juice or take the typical photo with the locals next to snakes.
