Your 7 Days Morocco Itinerary Tour from Casablanca tour really begins with the start of today's journey. Your private English-speaking driver will pick you up from your accommodation to travel to Chefchaouen, or 'Chaouen' as it is known locally. This town is a visual delight in blue; walls, doors, windows; staircases, alleys and arches: everything is a combination of soft azure blue and deeper, more powerful tones. This afternoon you are free to explore at your own pace or simply relax in this blue Moroccan village. Outa el Hammam is the main square, and the place to watch the world go by. Walk through the tiny, crowded alleys away from the more tourist orientated areas and you will find the daily life of the town.
Day 3: Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Fez
Say goodbye to Chefchaouen and head south to Volubilis, the most important and extensive remains of a Roman city in Morocco, and one of the most far-flung domains of the Empire, thanks to the powerful Berber tribes who proved to be more than a match for it. To the conquering legionaries. Once one of the most important grain-producing regions to feed the voracious Roman appetite, and wild animals to keep the crowds entertained as they tried to devour gladiators in the arena, this thriving provincial city was home to some 200,000 inhabitants at the height of its glory. The city's importance is reflected in the Capitoline Temple, the Basilica, said to be one of the most beautiful in Africa in its day, and its 1,300 square metre Forum, with sumptuous mosaics that can still be seen in some of the more luxurious houses.
You will finish today in one of Morocco's four imperial cities, Fez, where you can prepare for tomorrow's fascinating tour of this enchanting medieval city.
Day 4: Guided tour of Fes
This is your opportunity to see the Medina of Fes through the eyes of an official local guide. The immense medina (the largest in the city of Fes and in fact the largest in the world) has preserved its medieval structures and is considered to be the largest pedestrian area in the world. It was classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1981.
Your tour lasts almost a whole day with break for lunch. Before leaving in the morning, you can talk to your guide about the visits you would like to take. If you have never visited Fes before, we recommend that you read our Fes travel guide, which will not only give you a fascinating insight into this city, but will also help you decide which sites you would like to experience with the help of your guide.
