Continue along the scenic Ounila Valley, with its winding roads, colorful rock formations, Berber villages, and gardens. Once we arrive at the lodge, we will have a hospitality tea while we get some rest. It is here that the dunes take on a reddish colour due to the play of light and shadow of the sun's rays on top of them, a magical spectacle that you won't be able to stop photographing. Once at the camp, we will be welcomed with a hospitality tea and before dinner, we will have free time to stretch our legs and enjoy the relaxation and silence of the dunes.

Day 3: Merzouga

Alternatively, you can explore the desert area further. Visit the village of Khamlia, home to the Gnawa people, known for their unique music brought from sub-Saharan Africa. Experience a live performance of Gnawa music.
Next, visit the old city of Rissani, the foundation of Morocco's current royal family. Explore the large souk, held three times a week, where you can find spices, vegetables, and traditional crafts. Rissani was once the meeting place for salt caravans from Timbuktu.
In the afternoon, take a camel ride through the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset, followed by another evening of dinner, music, and drumming around a campfire.
Please note that from May to September, trekking in the dunes may be advised against due to extreme heat. An alternative plan may be offered during this period.
Day 4: Merzouga - Fes
Rise early to witness a breathtaking desert sunrise, then take some time to explore the dunes and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.
After breakfast, depart for Rissani and Erfoud, stopping to see how locally found fossils are crafted into furniture and other items. The sheer number and beauty of these fossils are awe-inspiring, but there’s no obligation to purchase anything.
Continue north to Er Rachidia and the Ziz Valley, renowned for its vast palm groves and prolific date production. Enjoy lunch in Midelt, known as the “apple capital” of Morocco, located at the foot of the Ayachi Mountain. This town is a commercial center for agriculture and mining, producing minerals like fluorite and quartz.
Cross the Tizi-n-Talremt pass, also known as the “she-camel” pass, and reach Azrou, where you can spot Barbary apes in the cedar forests.
Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon and spend the night in a charming riad in the heart of the medina.
Jum 5: Fes Sightseeing
Enjoy a full day exploring Fes, the oldest of Morocco’s Imperial Cities. Visit the University of Al Kairaouine, founded in 859 by Fatima al Fihri, and the medieval city of Fes El Bali, home to the exotic Bou Inania Medersa, the Medina, and the Kairaouine Mosque. In the afternoon, explore Fes El Jdid and the Museum of Moroccan Arts. Spend the night in a riad.
Day 6: Fes - Meknes - Rabat
After breakfast, travel through the beautiful valleys and hills, visiting Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring extensive Roman ruins. Explore this ancient city with a local guide to fully appreciate its historical significance.
Continue south to Meknes, one of Morocco’s Imperial Cities, known for its Islamic architecture. Explore the ancient medina, visit the impressive Bab Mansour gate, and see the Heri es-Souani granaries and stables built by Sultan Moulay Ismail.
Arrive in Rabat, where you’ll visit the Hassan Tower, an iconic symbol of the city, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, where the former king and his son, Hassan II, are entombed.
Spend the night in a beautiful riad in Rabat.
Day 7: Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
After breakfast, visit the Chellah, an ancient necropolis with Roman and medieval ruins. Then explore the Oudaya Kasbah, a twelfth-century fortified citadel with a rich military history.
Drive to Casablanca and visit the stunning Moskea Hassan II, the largest in Africa, known for its intricate tile work and architecture. Be prepared to queue for tickets, as guided tours are offered every hour.
After lunch, explore more of Casablanca, including the picturesque corniche, before heading back to Marrakech. Enjoy the scenic Moroccan countryside along the way.
